Okay. Another day - another case of multiple IDs.
Same guy using at least two IDs at the same time :-

Upto the MODs to decide the action warranted.
Or if any warranted in the first place !

A recent interaction on the forum made me to think about agreements and marketplace etiquette, hence I wanted to start this discussion. My goal isn't to call them out, but rather to understand how members interpret "forum rules" and "standard practice" because situations like these don't seem black and white to me.

The short version of the story is:
The forum member had multiple items for sale. I was interested in one item. I contacted him regarding the item and said a friend of mine will come to collect it and payment will be done during the meetup to which he agreed. They had a word and decided on meet the next day. Due to a family tragedy my friend wanted to postpone the meet to next day. The seller mentioned what had transpired and told me the whole lot was sold to another member a minute after sharing this. I was informed about all this after the sale was completed.

From my perspective, an agreement was made on the listed price (as we did not negotiate on price) and when the payment would be made. Due to unfortunate circumstances the meetup did not go as planned. The seller said since the other buyer was ready to pay for the whole lot immediately, hence they went ahead. If I was made aware of this then I would have happily transferred the payment then and there.

What prompted me to write this wasn't if the seller had the right to sell to another buyer. Rather, it's the question of communication and courtesy between members.

One of the reasons I've always appreciated this forum is that it has traditionally been built on trust and goodwill. In my previous transaction here, there were multiple interested members. I had a discussion with the seller and he decided to hold the item till said date, after which the next member would get the chance. These were explicit terms said and not "implied". The transparency meant nobody felt blindsided.

So I'd like to hear from the members:

When is a deal considered to be committed? If another buyer is ready to complete the purchase, should original buyer be informed and given an opportunity to respond? Should sellers explicitly state their policy on holding or reserving items, or we are suppose to "interpret" them?
Shoot stuff I guess?

Leaving feedback for this transaction -

This is probably my first negative experience here.

We agreed on 2,400 inclusive of shipping.

First (and minor) issue—the seller shipped through a courier which doesn't serve a main portion of Kolkata. I am not faulting the seller directly as he definitely did not know about this, but it could have been avoided by choosing a more well-known delivery agent like Delhivery / Bluedart / DTDC or even India Post. I had to hurriedly collect it from their office before leaving for a trip. The numbers shared for this particular courier office, even by their own customer care, were simply unavailable.

Secondly, there is some sort of a hard, glue-like substance stuck on the backside of the bag. This was never disclosed to me via the images on WhatsApp or in the post. I will let the readers here draw their own conclusions as to why that may be. When I contacted the seller, he informed me that it can be simply washed off (which I strongly doubt). I further told him he should have disclosed this, after which he has remained silent.

I am not looking for a refund or compensation from the seller as it's frankly a small item and amount. However, I am writing this in the hope that the seller is more transparent in the future about the condition of the items he is selling here.

Well, the 'Ultrasonic' counts are rather reassuring and practically rule out any video "abuse".
Not much to do now I guess. Enjoy the camera !

Quote from: justaday on March 25, 2026, 09:16:22 AMPlease don't jump into conclusion based on a picture and this is why it's hard to explain all ur claims as visible in picture. It is not.

Maybe it is, maybe it isnt. But you have the camera and only you can post the relevant closeups even for details that are 'hard to explain'. Take closeups under direct sunlight from suitable angles. That should reveal a lot of detail that is otherwise 'greyed' out. No harm in giving it a shot.

We have discussed so much and yet we havent even seen something as basic as the 'shutter count' 'Page 2' screenshot. Maybe the 'ultrasonic cleaning' count (U) will suggest something. Or 'discrepancies' in batteries (incongruent dates or heavily used batteries) will.

The onus of 'proving' things here rests entirely on you.

Nothing wrong with that.

The warning i will still hold to any buyers with this seller is if its M43 gears, please do research in the OM forums and whatsapp group before trusting anything from this seller as facts.

@justaday Do it. At this point Kher is on silent mode so might as well reveal the camera in full.

Please wait. None of these observations of chaffing based on those pic is right. This camera has a nice design for thumb which is what in that light is showing as chaffed grip.

Quote from: gsferrari on March 24, 2026, 10:01:11 PMThe issue here is even that textured part you have pointed out IS a wrap! It is not the original grip you are looking at.

Of course it isnt the original grip. And thats why I have said it doesnt matter if its 'original or applied'. But wait, why do you need to peel off all the wrapping and inspect the camera underneath ? The chafing on the applied grip itself is the big 'giveaway' to the actual condition of the camera. Unless you assume someone peeled off this chafed grip from another camera and pasted it on to this one !

Quote from: JessePinkmanYo on March 24, 2026, 09:31:10 PMJust check the attached image (taken from seller's listing) with areas on the grip showing extensive wearing of the rubber/silicon (nevermind if it is original or applied) circled in red. The extent of this chafing CANNOT be caused by 600 SC. The entire "texture" has been rubbed away with use. And this "tell-tale" will be even more stark when the camera is inspected personally.

The issue here is even that textured part you have pointed out IS a wrap! It is not the original grip you are looking at. We didn't think we needed to peel off all the wrapping to inspect the camera underneath. Lesson learned!
