Production of the  Nikon D500 was discontinued in February 2022. The "youngest" D500 you can get will be at least two years old. It is easy to assume that an externally pristine, unused camera body with a low shutter count is a good purchase.
Unfortunately unused or seldom used cameras come with their own set of issues

Battery Degradation: Batteries in cameras can lose their charge capacity over time, even if the camera isn't used. If left in the camera, batteries can leak or corrode, damaging the internal electronics. Will not happen in a regularly used camera body

Sensor or Lens Issues: Dust, dirt, or moisture can accumulate on the sensor or lenses when the camera is not used for a while. This issue tends to get attended to if regularly used.

Lubricant Drying Up: DSLRs have many moving parts. Lubricants used in the moving parts  can dry up or gum up over time, leading to mechanical failures when the camera is eventually used again.

Condensation: If a camera is stored in a humid or fluctuating temperature environment, condensation can build up inside, leading to fogging, rusting, fungus growth. Again this is an issue that will either not occur or will be attended to if regularly used.

Firmware Updates: Cameras have firmware that requires occasional updates. If the camera hasn't been used for a long time, it might not be up-to-date.

Something to consider when acquiring a "like new" product whose production has been discontinued years ago.
