Hello Manasss.

Welcome to the JJMPF!

Have you ever noticed that capable imagemakers seem to be able to get good pictures from almost any camera?  It's absolutely true.  If I were starting out, and on a budget, I would want a camera with a good (real) viewfinder for good visibility in bright light e.g. daylight, intuitive and accessible "manual" controls for aperture, shutter speed, and focus, and the ability to accept a variety of affordable accessories that I might need, like lenses, for example.

Wishing you the best in your equipment selection.   Happy Day.

Some say those of us who love to talk about cameras should instead go and take pictures. I say we should go and also take pictures.

I was in your shoes 4 years ago and bought an XT30ii. Absolutely loved it and find it hard to let go off although I have "upgraded" to an XH2.

I would suggest you figure what you want from your camera. I wanted manual controls to help me fine tune exposure and develop a workflow.

Compared to your Coolpix, do you want resolution? Shallow DoF? More focal length? Different workflow? I do think picking a crop sensor mirrorless is the right direction, but your answers to above questions will guide you better than an internet stranger.

Try to buy something that will help you in the long run. Large sensor camera like A6100 can accept variety of lenses and can be a good point to start a hobby. Good 50mm lens can help you to stay away from the subject and still be able to give you a good close up.
Having said that, if you know the technique of composing the frame and getting 'right' tonality in your images, any camera can work 👍.

I'd personally advise against it since the sensor size and performance are comparable to a modern phone camera anyways. so while cheap, it's not adding much value.

try going for micro four-thirds cameras from lumix/olympus at that price point.

Manasss

Hey somehow I find a lumix zs50 for 20000. Should I buy it. Anyone who previously used it or have any idea about the camera (is it good for street photography).

I posted my suggestion on your Street thread

Not sure how compact is "compact" for you.
If you are looking for pant pocket compact, look for used Sony RX100 or Canon G7X series or GRiii
Anything less that 50K is good.

Manasss

If possible please give a range(like how much is too much for that camera) for any camera you mention.

Thank you.

Hello everyone

I want a compact camera for street photography ( I prefer standing atleast 10-15 m from my subject as I m new). I just want to know which camera should I consider because there are plenty of small compact camera. Not just the hyped one but want to know other camera that exist ( which people don't talk about).
As a student I also have a tight budget (max 50000).
Help!!!

I had attached some of my work . ( hope you like it 🫣)
