Unable to get a proper fit lens hood for Sony SEL 50mm 1.8 OSS APSC anywhere on Amazon and Flipkart. The original one is expensive. The ones available on Flipkart get attached to the lens filter and cannot be reverse mounted which I want to avoid. The lens hood model is SH 116 .
Any idea where I get a decent 3rd party one which actually fits like the original
I don't think you'll be able to find a replacement in the Indian market, primarily because the lens is quite obscure. Sony original parts are really expensive.
The original lens hood of my 200-600mm lens fell into a canal a year or so ago. I had to order a replacement from the US and have it brought over by a visiting relative. It set me back around $70, and the new one fits even more loosely than the original.
I have that lens. It was easily available, so I thought they'd be quite common.
Actually, I had to replace the front cap. Yes, sony was some silly price, but for a lens cap, had only to match the filter thread.
I guess I' settle for the screw-on hood.
The problem with a screw-on hood is that you can't use a filter along with it. This was why I didn't get one as I use an ND filter on my 200-600mm lens while shooting videos in bright sunlight, when a hood is mandatory.

I never thought of that.
Can you not put the filter on first and then the lens hood?

Most filters are too slim to mount a hood. But no harm in trying. This is frustrating since Nikon and Canon 3rd party and original hoods are available in plenty !
Just get a collapsible, screw in rubber hood.
