Title: An illustration of rolling shutter (Sony a6400)
Post by: Nishit Dave on March 24, 2024, 04:05:00 PM
I was clicking a Shikra perching in a tree opposite my balcony one afternoon, when a joyride helicopter became visible briefly as it passed overhead. I didn't have time to switch to mechanical shutter mode, so we have a fine example of image distortion that happens due to the rolling shutter phenomenon in electronic shutter mode.

Full width image, size reduced to 3000:2000. Shot at 1/3200s in silent shutter mode on the Sony a6400.

Strangely, the other two rotors are not visible in any of the three photos I was able to take.
