Title: Getting started
Post by: blackorwhite on October 10, 2025, 11:15:53 AM
Hello everyone. I'm from Bangalore and In my early forties. I've been wanting to take photography as a hobby since I was a teen. In those days I used to shoot on a Kodak, Yashica film cameras. Later, after the advent of digital cameras, I've had a few Kodak and canon point and shoots. I have also used a relative's Nikon D5500 with the kit lens, prime lens and telephoto.

I want to get started with taking photography as a hobby more seriously. Please recommend me full frame camera models that I can buy preowned to get started. I usually shoot landscapes and street photography with my camera phone.

Look for a used Sony a7iii. It will give you an entry into the mirrorless world, with a wide range of lenses from lots of third parties like Sigma, Tamron, Samyang, etc. as well as Sony's own OEM lenses.

Do not buy a DSLR at this stage. Canon and Nikon mirrorless cameras also have few third party lens options, if any, so your choice will be limited.

Thank you. If you don't mind, can you please point towards sourcing this pre owned camera?
