Condition (Appearance/Functionality): Appearance is decent but this lens had fungus on the front element which I had professionally treated and cleaned. Functionally there are no issues and optically the lens performs like any other zeiss classic lens with great contrast, bokeh and colours. It definitely is a lens that I rescued from someone who stored it in a dark cabinet with the lens caps on. I wanted to experience the classic Zeiss lens rendering and the Makroplanar is a stunning lens. I have shot into the sun as well without any issues caused by the dead fungus / cleaning. I can vouch for the fact that this is a superb lens to shoot with.
Repairs done and parts replaced: Got the fungus killed and removed by a specialist who recommended not going too deep in an effort to preserve the coatings. This did work in the end so you will see some dead fungus but the coatings are largely intact.
