As a long time Nikon user I am used to the relative ease of uploading a new picture (RAW or JPEG) to a site like Camershuttercount and getting the actual number of shutter actuations made in the life of the camera. Quite simple, actually.

Recently I became aware that it is not so straightforward in Canon-world. How would you determine the shutter count of (say) a Canon R7 or a Canon 5D Mark3?

Hi, maybe I am late to the party, but wanted to let you know I have same issue with Canon 6D and EOS utility; there is not "shutter count" option as google is saying there should be...

EDIT: was able to read the shutter count using this software: https://sourceforge.net/projects/canon-eos-digital-info/

Since my original post six months ago, I recently came across this Aug 2024 article in Petapixel
