C&C welcome.

An illustration of what distance and fog/haze does to colour rendition.

PANA8293 Colour and B&W

ISO

Yes fog has almost stripped off colours but nice image indeed.

Nice illustration to show the effect ! Fog/haze gives muted/soft colour effect. In such atmosphere, I often prefer b/w rendition. As you have done, one object preferably dark toned,in the foreground, adds as a stepping stone for the eye into the picture-recession of planes beyond.

Thank you Vyas-ji, Mukund for your observations.

A 'stepping stone' is a very nice way of putting it.

Good example of what haze and/or fog can do to a scene, like how a soft box scatters light. Though it can be used to good effect to create a moody scene or isolate the foreground, it also de-saturates colors and reduces depth as well as contrast. Unfortunately, opportunities in Mumbai to practice photography under these conditions come very infrequently.

Thanks tinb. These images are from Panchagani. Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani, through the seasons, offer many interesting opportunities which are hard to find in Mumbai.
