Spotted this shy and slow moving bird a few days ago. It generally remains within the shadows and branches of dense trees, and its dark and sober plumage is hard to get a focus on. This time I was lucky and encountered an individual lower down and exposed to sunlight for a short time.
The images are cropped.

It's a very efficient climber of trees, and a horrible flier. Not just weak, but also slow-witted. It has evolved to walk around and clamber around trees. Other birds of the Cuckoo family are efficient fliers.

Yes. In so far as flying is concerned, this bird likes to make short hops between branches, and that, too, not very gracefully.
