Andromeda galaxy.
The closest galaxy to our milky way, has a diameter of 2.2 lakh light years and it is 25,00,000 light years away. With apperent magnitude of 3.4, it is visible to naked eyes and it appears larger than the full moon. It is expected to collide with our milky way galaxy in next 4-5 billion years, however, according to newer studies the process of collision is already started.

Lovely. I thought I had managed to see Andromeda as a very faint smudge somewhere near the zenith once with my old 50mm refractor, but in retrospect I might have misled myself completely.
