Bishnupur, a very important town in the district of Bankura in West Bengal was and still is a very culturally rich town. It has given birth to the technique of using Terra-cotta tiles in the construction of Temples about 800 years back. Bishnupur is also the seat of a very well-known Indian classical music gharana, called the "Bishnupur Gharana" that had great masters, one of them being Jodubhatto, the teacher of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. The artists of Bishnupur gharana have still maintained their class.

Bishnupur is famous for handloom Silk Sarees, like classis Tessore/silk sarees, Baluchori, Swarnachori etc., that are a class apart.

The temples of Bishnupur were created by the Rajasthani kings who ruled Bishnupur for a very long time. Most of these temples were worshipping Krishna. Hence the names, Lalji, Shyam Rai, Madan Mohan etc.

A few of the Bishnupur temples are shown here. Hope you will like these.
(I am sorry, its 1 image over the limit of 5).
All these images were made in July 2022 with Nikon D810.m I had to choose a time of the day when there is no crowd at all.

Beautiful captures! and informative background about the temples!

May I please suggest to try to show details in the arches, similar to Lalji Temple photo.. I think the pics will look more impressive

Some say those of us who love to talk about cameras should instead go and take pictures. I say we should go and also take pictures.
