Hello everyone,

I recently bought a few lenses through this forum and would like to share my experience here. A small overview on how it all started.

I have been shooting with a D7000 for a while now. I had the 18-105mm kit lens and a 50mm 1.8 D in my kit. After using the 50mm, I took a fancy for primes and that is what I wanted to add to my kitty. While reading about vintage manual primes, I came across the Nikon 105 mm f2.5 manual and immediately took a fancy to it.

I started looking for options where I could get a lens in a good condition at a decent price. I searched for it in the local camera market at Chandni Chowk, Delhi without any luck. A friend then suggested keh.com. It had a good collection of lenses – the only challenge was how to get it quickly from there. While browsing keh.com, I came across other lenses and a 24mm f2.8 and 300mm f4.5 got added to the wish list.

I then came across this forum and started putting out my requirements in the WTB section. Initially, I was a bit skeptical about buying from completely unknown people and that too mostly in a different city. However, my concern was unfounded as I finally bought all three lenses from members who were very helpful and transparent in the whole process.

Here are details of the buying experience for each lens:

-   Nikon 300 mm 4.5 ED IF: Jaysukh (kakadiya) responded to me on this one and shared all relevant details about the condition of the lens and the price. We spoke once over the phone and finalized the deal. I transferred the money and the lens was shipped the same day. DTDC was used and the delivery from Surat to Gurgaon was quite fast. I received the lens the very next afternoon. The packing was done well with bubble wrap and thermocol. Before shipping the lens, Jaysukh ensured that the lens was working well and even took a few sample shots to share with me. The lens was in a condition as described by Jaysukh. The glass was clear and there was no fungus.

-   Nikon 24 mm f2.8 AI-S: Sumanta Chandra reached out to me on this one and shared all relevant details. We spoke once and went ahead with the deal. Money was transferred and the lens was shipped the same day through Bluedart. Lens was delivered the next day and in very good condition. Despite the age, the lens was in an excellent condition both functionally and cosmetically. While speaking with Sumanta, I also checked if he had the 105mm as well or if any acquaintance of his may have it. As it turned out, one of his friends did have the 105mm and Sumanta shared information on that as well. However, during this time another member Ankit reached out and I was able to finalize the deal with him.

-   Nikon 105mm f2.5 AI-S: I bought this lens from Ankit Nahata in Mumbai. He initially reached out to me as had a 24mm. However, it wasn't the version I was looking for. I checked with him about the 105 mm as well and to my delight he himself had one in mint condition. We spoke and agreed on the terms. Money was transferred and the lens was dispatched a couple of days later (delay was due to the courier services not operating on Republic day and Sunday). I finally received the lens yesterday through DTDC. DTDC weren't as prompt this time and delayed delivery a bit. Finally, I went to their office and collected it myself.

I would like to thank all other members who reached out with their offers. It has been a pleasure interacting with the folks over here. Hope to be a regular over here and learn more.

Regards,
Amit

Bought a 55mm M42 mount Pentax lens from Cymric. The lens was in mint condition, packed well and arrived the next day. It's now being used on a Pentax bellows adapted to my A7M3. Thanks Soumya.(Cymric)

It was pleasure dealing with Amit ji, .
He was very prompt and thorough on what he wants with fair understanding of the pricing.

A highly recommend gentleman.

Hope you continue to enjoy the lens. Now that the lens is in better hands, at least it will be used.

Best regards,

Had pleasure of doing business with Mr. Anil Tulsi. Got the 16-35 f4 lens from him. Condition is exactly like he described. He even delivered the lens to a place far away from his home at my request. Highly recommended.

Cheers to Saharsh Dholakia. Bought an 80 400 AFS from him. Lens was in very good condition as described by him and was packed very well. Gave a UV filter for free as well.
I initially paid an advance to book the lens and paid the rest after 3 months. He was perfectly with that. A very good gentleman indeed and comes highly recommended from my side.
