Recently sold Raynox to Gaurav Patil (gsp28, I believe). As soon as he saw my WTS thread, mailed me about his interested in the product. Did the payment and received the stuff by courier. The deal was smooth and neat. Thanks Gaurav.

Had a great experience dealing with our fellow forum member Ravikanth . Sold him my beloved Nikon 18-105 , he sent the money just the day after he booked the lens and we had a very smooth deal altogether . Would look forward to deal with him again in future.

I have an awesome experience to share about Naveen Bachwani (http://www.jjmehta.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=4355)

I was interested in Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D from his WTS post - http://www.jjmehta.com/forum/index.php/topic,16376.0.html

Right from my 1st PM, Naveen came across as a warm, friendly gentleman. He was clearly looking for a local deal & was against shipping. Yet when I expressed my interest he was ready to ship it to Bangalore! The WTS post correctly described the lens for sale & the condition, the deal went on smooth & the real delight was when I received the product! The lens was in pristine condition & I never expected a used lens in such a condition. Not to forget that thorough packing & reputed courier agency he chose to send the lens. Absolutely thrilled to have this beauty with me & to have come across a thorogh gentleman.

I would also thank the JJM community for grin & frown section! I just joined this forum a fortnight ago, yet I chose to buy inspite of not seeing the lens, just going by the reputation Naveen built over years & positive feedback he had :)

Naveen - it is sheer delight knowing you. Thank you.

Regards,
Prashanth

I recently bought a Tamron 19-35 from Mr. Senthil Kumaran (using nickname "artsenthil"). Since I stay at a remote place, I have at times courier related issues. He had initially sent the item using Professional Couriers. But it turned out that so called Professional couriers weren't so "professional" and the package, moved around here & there for some time. So, after getting no assistance from Professional Couriers, I asked Mr. Senthil to help me. He enquired, and then found out the item was being sent back to him (despite the fact that my area has a Professional courier office here). He sent the item again using DTDC couriers, and the lens is now with me! Thanks to him. I offered him the shipping charges when he sent the item to me a second time, but he never mentioned anything about the amount.
The lens is in excellent condition, excellent pricing...and it was a pleasure dealing with Mr Senthil. The replies were prompt, and he was very co-operative. Would love to deal with him again.

Thank you so much for that glowing reco, Prashanth. I'm glad the lens found a good home, and I got to make another friend in the bargain!

Hello everyone,
Well, I have to report  two grins actually, not one.
Both are for my friend Shobin George. Edit : 3 grins. Edit again. 4 grins :)

1. The smaller grin.
I purchased a Nikon AIS 80-200F4 from him, and it was exactly as described, Clear and w/o fungus. Optically excellent, Mechanically first rate. It was recently cleaned. He offered me to use it, and return it if I was unhappy. I used, and apart from the weight, which would not allow me to make focussed pics at the beginning, was excellent. Needless to say, I kept it.

2. The bigger grin. (should be first, as this happened before the previous)
I was in the market for a Nikon Film body, looked and contacted some of the folks selling the same on the forum itself. Later saw that an F100 was on sale on website gaffarbhai and sons. I knew very little about how and what to check. Requested him to come along and check, He came, he checked and recommended to buy. Bargained along with me, and let me pick up for about 60% of the quoted price. Advised me not to pick up an AF-D 28-105, as it was overpriced. Did not accept my offer of having ice-cream at Badshah Falooda next door.  :( Even after I insisted the treat was from me   >:( ) Asked me to rush home, as I was unwell, but I held my ground  this time :P

3.  The biggest grin.
He recently put up a 25-50F4, truly a rare optic, Check  online reviews. It was not in a great mechanical condition, You may still be able to check it online. He let me use it, and test it, before I committed to purchasing, and hence I went along (NOTE: He asked me to test it.) I tested it, and found that it was not to my liking ( I have a DX sensor body, realised the fourth grin as was typing this)  Returned it, and thanked him for his policy. Of course, it was possible only because he told me the lens was not in urgent need of sale, and hence I could take my time. I doubt other deals may be as flexible.

4. The grin I missed.
He came to check my DX body (D300) with me, when I went to see it. Recommended buying it, since It was used by 1 person and reasonably well cared for (believe me, "one of the rich amateur" that folks recommend for buying from. He also had enough photos to back up his very expensive gear) at the *right* price. I have a laugh when I see the prices of D200 and D300 bandied about in this (and another popular) forum.

Most of all, I gained a good friend.

PS: I forgot he helped me pick up my bag too :P
Multi-format, multi-medium.

In photography as in life, apart from being at the right place at the right time, it is important to know the right thing to do and also have the means to do it.
