BIS Certification on camera bodies

Off topic, sorry - but this is the first time I'm seeing a BIS (bis dot gov dot in) certification on any camera.

Is this now a norm for cameras meant for India?
Looking for a Rokinon/Samyang 135 F/2 Lens in excellent condition.

Also looking for a few Canon NB-10L Batteries.

Not sure about all brands, but Nikon has been doing it for the past few years.

Not sure about all brands, but Nikon has been doing it for the past few years.

I also saw a BIS mark on a Sony battery I purchased recently.
