Recommendation for an EDC Camera

An update. I bought a Sony ZV-1 m1. I used an old Powershot sx240 to get an idea of what camera I wanted and then felt ZV1 was good mix of features and price. Been using it almost everyday for last 3 months. Also sold the Osmo and don't miss it one bit.

That said I also have new respect for the old powershot so I have ended up with two P&S that I like. My lobster is too buttery

Thank you for your thoughts.

I'm not sure I want to consider 1 inch sensors. I have a Osmo Pocket and feel its sensor is ok at best(the product itself is great). The RX100 is also crazy money for a 1in sensor.

The Ricoh makes more sense sensor-wise. I'm already a prime user, my most used standard lens is the XF 35 f1.4. And I feel coupling it with a 28mm effective will be suitable, though harder to shoot with than the 40mil IIIx.

Apart from the form factor of an actual camera, I guess I would like to have nice rendering. I'm ok not having zoom as a consequence.

Wonder if I'm just justifying GAS :)

Not much of a choice I'd say.

Before you pull the trigger on RX100 / G7X series, you might want to 'handle' and use these babies for a few minutes. While the cameras are good on paper, you might run into a few unexpected issues such as :-

(1) these are very small cameras with even smaller buttons/controls and literally no 'grip'. They require both delicate an deliberate hanlding. This may not be as easy as it seems especially if you have large hands

(2) pocketable zooms are very fragile and dirt/lint magnets. Zoom snags apart, every once in a while you'll notice the barrel sucking in dust and inclined to fungus infestation especially in humid climes

(3) These might be a bit better option than any 'phone' only if you shoot and edit RAW. Otherwise they might be unable to match the punchy/contrasty SOOC images of the latest phone cameras as they do not offer much by way of 'computational' photography especially with older iterations

Ricoh GRIII might be slightly better than the other two except that the fixed 28mm is not to everyone's liking. Which brings us to something like G1XIII or the X100 series, both of which are heavier and not exactly 'jeans' pocketable but probably easier and more fun to use!

Just get an Rx100 mk1, 2, or 3. Or a Ricoh GR1.

To the best of my knowledge, no photographer has outgrown these cameras yet.
Looking for a Rokinon/Samyang 135 F/2 Lens in excellent condition.

Also looking for a few Canon NB-10L Batteries.

Thanks. The G7X is pretty hard to source now. And RX100 m7 is 1.2L 😵💫

Hey folks, looking for recommendations on an EDC cam.

I already take a lot of pics with my phone but do not find it inspiring. Also my phone is full of work stuff and using it often means I will get distracted so I try to stay away from it.

Is the GR III too outdated now? Any other truly pocketable camera like it?

I don't think any ILC is pocketable and having owned an XT30 for a long time, while I enjoyed it, it was very far from pocketable even with pancake lenses.
