Bought a Lowepro bag from Kumar Gaurav of Gurgaon. Very reasonably priced and I got it delivered within a very short time. The packaging was excellent. (It actually took me 3 minutes to unpack the bag). I would like to give him a 5*. It was a  very pleasant transaction.

Thanks Binoy ! Glad you liked it and are going to put it to better use than me :-)
I envy not those who have better equipment, but those who have more time.

Hello Friends,

Am posting here after a gap of almost 2 years +... Incidently the first post in this thread after the mods announced it was mine and again today i am posting feedback about the same person whom i had posted the first feedback..

Nirmalya Sinha : Profile http://www.jjmehta.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3212

My first experience with Nirmalya was when i bought a remote worth Rs.200 in 2009!! from him and that established him in my books as a trustworthy person.

Recently, he had posted about a 16-85 VR lens for sale and had clearly mentioned that the lens had a small scratch on the glass.. and even attached a few pics to his post. Now I access this wonderful forum through our office net and the site on which the pictures were hosted was blocked and to top it all i was travelling in the hinterlands of Gujarat and couldnt check from outside  ::)

So i did the best thing, i called him up  :D

We spoke about the lens and he assured me that there was absolutely no problem with the lens and the supposed scratch was not a bother at all and he also assured me that if it was a bother, he'll take it back.

The price was mutually agreed upon (which is very sweet by the way) and the lens was despatched by him. I have received the lens and it is in near mint condition (though i havent shot much pics with the lens as am again back to the hinterlands), but i gather there should not be any problem at all.

The packing was really nice and the icing on the cake is that he has included one Hoya filter for free!

He has come across as a trustworthy person and keeps his words.

Once again.... highly recommended as a seller

And the remote still works btw  ;D

Hi Jay

Thanks for all these nice words. I should also thank you for believing and relying on me about the condition of the lens. The lens was really in nice condition and it was a golden opportunity to grab it at a very good price. Before you another newly joined member has also inspected the lens and remarked that the speck will appear in the photos – NEVER EVER! The speck was originally there from the very beginning, i.e. when I purchased the lens from another person in 2012 (I didn't test it thoroughly before taking the lens) and it has never bothered me. We all know about lensrentals.com – the biggest lens rental service in the world. Even they have mentioned the following in their website http://www.lensrentals.com/faq - "Because we believe filters degrade image quality to a slight degree, we do not put UV filters on the lenses unless you specifically order them. Because that is our choice we do not consider the renter responsible for minor hairline scratches to the front element." In my lens the hairline scratch was 1mm long, .05mm wide and .001mm deep; only wider and deeper scratches affect the pictures. I think we, the amateurs baby our gear much more than actually babying our pictures. Anyway, thanks for purchasing the lens, it's your gain at others loss including me – I have sold the nice piece of glass at such a nice price.

PS: In the context of babying our gear I remembered one recent incident. One bird photographer from Philippines was shooting sea shore birds at very low level and sometimes his camera and lens was actually going under the mud. Since mud was obstructing his view through the viewfinder, he was not able to see clearly and hence constantly pouring water on the camera body to clear the mud! I know this is possible only in Nikon D3, but just see how much these professional are dedicated to the pictures and not to the gear as such! The story is here - http://nikonrumors.com/2011/04/06/yes-this-nikon-d3-is-still-working.aspx

Thanks again

Brendon

Had a great experience selling a tripod head to Santro437. He paid immediately, didn't bargain at all, waited patiently as I delayed shipping and informed me once he received the shipment. Couldn't really ask for anything more. :)
Are you a Konica Minolta or Sony Alpha DSLR user? If yes, then please check out http://www.flickr.com/groups/sony-alpha-india/
