Find "Show most recent posts at the top in topic view" and deselect the option.

Click the "Change Profile" button at the bottom of the page.

Done.

Quote from: Bharat Varma on May 28, 2025, 02:45:04 AMWithin a single post thread, messages flow from old to new downwards. Which is logical enough, I guess.

That's what I expect, and what I am used to. But it is not what I am now seeing. It has changed so that threads are displayed beginning with the latest post, new to old downwards.

This is not what you are seeing? Why me,then, I wonder! I did try logging out and logging back in. No: still the same.

I think the site was not available one day, a couple of days ago. It is only now that this order (for me) has been reversed.

The same with me..when the site wasn't available sometime back and later when i logged in i saw that the order had been changed i.e. it showed posts new and then scrolling down got me to the original post-something which i don't prefer. We so get used to the ways that i initially thought it was a bug post the problem the site was down and would be sorted out later. Little did i realize that like everything else it could be altered according to one's preferances now that i am seeing this thread..
And i so very resonate what Thad has to say here: Any post on an admin topic would be incomplete without this: Many thanks to our hosts, admins and moderators for keeping the forum going :)

I think you found the problem! Many thanks.

I also think I looked there before, but maybe didn't notice the "Change Profile" button! <Blush>

Many thanks for your help. I'm comfortable again :)

Log into your account and select "Look and Layout" under the drop down menu at top left (highlighted in red). Deselect the "Show most recent posts at the top in topic view" (highlighted in red). This should get your threads to revert to "messages flow from old to new downwards" arrangement.

Hi Bharat, I don't think this is being caused by individual settings. I initially read this thread before I logged in, and it displayed new to old top to bottom. As soon as I logged in it reverted to the older format of old to new top to bottom.
Strange

1. Within a single post thread, messages flow from old to new downwards. Which is logical enough, I guess.

2. Within a section of the forum, you can control the order of the displayed posts. Just toggle the display order by clicking on the "LAST POST" label highlighted below in red. You may have accidentally clicked it to change the order to the new setting.

Hope this helps.

Quote from: TVermaphotography on May 27, 2025, 08:23:44 PMI'm curious how oldest first would be better: wouldn't we have to go to the last page every time there was a new post? Also, a majority of forums on apps/websites these days are newest first.

It's what we had before.  Nobody complained, This is new.

Quote from: siva-kumar on May 27, 2025, 09:49:53 PMIn most forums, clicking on the 'NEW' icon or equivalent will take you to the last unread post. This seems more natural than the current default setting.
May be give individual user option to see how they want??

And clicking in "New" took one to the latest posts... at the bottom of the last page.

Just felt right. Like every other forum, the total of which I waste most of my day on :)

Scrolling down to go back in time is weird, no? We don't read books back to front.

I'm in for the option to toggle between the two. Still, i guess forums are distinct from books then!
